Mad Science!

Rick and Matthew went for a half round of golf this morning, while Luke and I moved some things to storage and ran some errands. When we got home, Matthew couldn't wait to show us what they'd been up to after golfing. This is one of the very good reasons why Rick will be in charge of Science class during our homeschooling years.

**Disclaimer** Do not try this at home. And if you think you must...please contact the mad scientist for step-by-step instructions for safety reasons...as this post is not step-by-step!

What happens when you carefully place some chunks of dry ice into an empty water bottle....

...add some hot water....and secure the top?

You get a jump-out-of-your-skin-expl*sion and these....

...and also some very happy boys who love their very cool mad-science Dad!

Yep, we did the mentos thing about a year ago. That was such a big hit, we sent the stuff with Matthew to school and they did it in class (well, outside) as a science experiment. His teacher was GREAT about stuff like that. Matthew ended up with the class mad science award at the end of the year because of all the experiments he took in to do!
