We had a great time in Florida last week. We went with a couple of my friends and their girls. We ate, swam, and played games a lot. But some of the highlights of the week were crab hunting on the beach at night and the treasure hunt that we staged for the kids. One of my friends stayed at the house one day while we took all of the kids off for a while. She made a treasure map, which was cut into puzzle pieces and hidden throughout the house for the kids to find. Also hidden were the key to the treasure chest and the clues that they needed to find the puzzle pieces and the key. Once they found all of the pieces, they had to work as a team to put the map back together. The treasure chest was buried in the sand on the beach and marked with a seaweed X. The "treasure" was an assortment of toys, games, jump ropes, coloring books, notepads, pens, etc. Talk about a fun time!

Night time hunting! They caught about 25 crabs the first night.
The live sand dollar Matthew caught on a sand bar. I couldn't bear the thought of purposefully ki*lling it, so we put it back in the water after we watched it for a few minutes. I had never seen a live one. It was fascinating to watch it walk and breathe!
It was completely coincidental that my dad and step-mom were in PCB the same week as us. They stayed about a mile away from our house. So they came to the beach house and spent all day with us on Thursday. We built sand castles, played in the water, flew a kite, and grilled out. It was so great to spend that time with them on the beach!

Matthew with my "other" child. This was a new friend from about 5 houses down who was spending the summer with his grandmother. We met him the first day we were there and he was stuck to us like glue after that. He would knock on the door first thing in the morning. We fed him 3 times a day and took him with us just about everywhere we went. And then we'd walk him home right before bed each night.

Okay so how exacty did you get the B&W shots that only their swim trunks and the buckets were colored in????? That was WAAAAAAAAY cool! Was that just a photoshop thing or did your camera do that?!?!?
It's a feature on our camera. I used to think I wanted photoshop really bad, but now not so much. That camera does just about everything! I guess the settings might be called something different on every one, but on ours, we turn the dial to SCN (short for scene) and it's the color accent option. Way cool, huh???
I also just recently found the color swap feature. You can swap one color for another and take a picture. We took a picture where Olivia's car look pink and another where it's red. I found that after we had already picked out a paint color for the living room. But if I had known beforehand, we could have tested the color out with this feature and might have been able to save ourselves the $30 we spent on test colors.
